Christian Weis / Filmmaker
With an extensive background in acting and film direction, Christian Weis brings both an actor’s point-of-view and a creative yet on-budget director’s perspective to every project. Born in Buehl, Germany, Christian began his acting career in German films at the age of twelve, and by the time he was a young man, he was working as an actor, production coordinator, and co-director at the famous Festspielhaus Baden-Baden Opera House alongside famed director, Robert Wilson and Renee Fleming.
Weis’s experience in both the stage and film industries in Germany sparked his desire to move to Los Angeles in 2009, where he studied acting with Lee Strasburg’s instructors, in Uta Hagen’s techniques under June Barfield, and at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theater under Ron Burrus, Joanne Lineville, Mary Quigley, Christopher Thornton, and Oscar-winner Milton Justice. This extensive training allows him to compare a European style of acting and direction with American styles, which enhances his ability to communicate in different ways with the actors he directs today.
The desire to direct drove Weis to earn an Associates Degree in Cinema with a Certificate in Directing and Filmmaking from Los Angeles City College. He was then offered a scholarship to Woodbury University, where he attained a BFA in Filmmaking, received the Senior Award of Excellence, the Academic Excellence in Filmmaking Award, and was nominated for the President’s Award. In addition to his film projects at Woodbury, Christian was chosen to direct the university’s promotional video, used for accreditation approval for the School of Business and to represent the college on their website
